Wood Lazure
Here we are looking at Lazure on prepared (smooth/planed) timber. For information about Lazure on unprepared (rough sawn) boarding go to Lazure.
This finish is usually carried out using oil based paints. The wood is first sealed with a semi-transparent white coating. When dry, a coat of transparent colour is applied resulting in the beautiful finish shown here and used extensively in the Theatre at Botton Village (see Gallery). Note that this technique overcomes the unfortunate reversed grain effect associated with staining.
